Toyota has toyed with concepts time and again. Some became reality while some remain just the way that they were intended to be – concepts. Having a statue at home is no value if it’s not exposed to the world or even regularly cleaned for that matter. Such a thing happened with Toyota regarding their LFA concept car. The LFA succeeds the IS F concept car and actually the second one to make to production level after so much of deliberations and yes and no tactics by the management. It was first in 2005 that Lexus first brought in the LFA concept. The production version was dogmarked for October 2009, Tokyo Motor Show. Later on, there was a new version and this is the one that I have got with me for the first drive. So, ladies and gentleman, here’s presenting to you the first drive of the 2012 Lexus LFA. The LFA was to be considered... [Read more of this review]

People carriers were what Mercedes-Benz was known for long before they actually started building passenger cars. Probably as of now, the most well known subject handling Mercedes’s hauling duties would be the R-class. But then it’s a very pricey option and not many would be too happy kicking ass out of it. For the poorer lot, there is the 2012 Mercedes B-class. Yes, this baby Merc is going to come down to the US. What after an eternal wait, this small car from Merc is going to make its way down here. Needless to say, as is the thing, we have the first scoop of this small Merc and even got to drive it. Here is the first drive report of the 2012 Mercedes B-class. Commanding a premium up ahead would be the 3 pointed star and by this, it is expected that it should yield more of luxury and have a potent design language going for it. This... Hyundai have been the key behind most of the innovations in the automobile market. How often have we seen companies offering a 10 year long warranty on their products? Or bringing in their assured buy-back plan schemes? We really haven’t seen any most of the times. However, with almost all of Hyundai products in the automotive market, its for given that there would be a long warranty on its plus some other goodies thrown in, which normally other manufacturers don’t tend to provide for. We have the 2012 Hyundai Veloster, which is the company’s most radical product ever built with us, for a first drive. Radical coz it has got the looks which would tell everyone that this product is a radical thing in its own right. A fish would be the most appropriate thing to actually describe the 2012 Veloster. The head lamps look like an exotic fish’s... [Read more of this review]

Okay, so when the name BMW comes to mind, there are thoughts about the luxury and handling part in the car. Does anyone even refer to the ride quality or the space inside the cabin? Those are suitably ignored. We have the 2011 BMW X3 xDrive28i with us undergoing its first drive test and here is a report of the same. With manufacturers shifting to the blue tinge in their head lamps look, BMW have shifted to the yellow factor with a hint of orange as well. The new X3 looks very good, infact better than what the other variants of the X series look like. The air intake has been widened a bit more than what the earlier one had. Just like the other X series cars, even this one gets a fog lamp placed very close to the head lamps. Its more like the current designer of BMW wants to eradicate all of Chris Bangle’s effects and instead wants to focus... [Read more of this review]
2013 Mazda CX-5 first drive

Mazda is one company which I admire for its gustiness. The company, which among its bigger brethren, would seem like a small fry, definitely tries and keeps its wings aflutter with its newer model launches as also the promise of being a driver’s machine. The time has come for the 2013 Mazda CX-5 to be unveiled and ahead of that, the company promised to plonk me on one of their test mules. You see, the design wasn’t revealed to even us automobile journalists. Shady business that is. No issues. I recently happened to drive a Lexus GS which was under covers as well. Without further ado, here is the first drive report of the Mazda CX-5. This car has been heavily inspired by the various design elements that the company claims. Some like Nagare, Ryuga and also Furai. Mazda engineers told me that this car was a ground up effort. To this, I had... [Read more of this review]
2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost first drive

Many times, its seen that most of the car buying public in their quest to SUVs, be they big or small, eventually land up at a Ford show room. Ford are notorious in the aspect that they have built a reputation for themselves for being the best manufacturing force as far as SUVs are concerned. Not only this, they are also credited with going eco in a big way. Case in study is the 2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost with its EcoBoost technology. The last time around, I had reported that manufacturers are going green by improving their technology but downsizing purely on the engine capacity. How far Ford has persuaded the customers to accept this philosophy is but anyone’s bet seeing their rising sales numbers and stuff. Also, the Explorer saw its numbers going up after the paradigm shift to the smaller engine. Also buyers now count fuel efficiency... [Read more of this review]
